We’ve written a lot about aluminum repair since launching the Collisionology blog in April of 2015. We hope, these posts have provided you with the confidence needed to work on the growing number of aluminum-bodied vehicles on the road.

Aluminum repair is such a broad, evolving topic, though, that today we’re going to highlight some other places where you can learn more. Here’s a list of some of our favorite resources for aluminum repair information:

 

I-CAR (Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair)

What you’ll find:

I-CAR’s OEM information database includes technical articles, bulletins, position statements and repair instructions. Everything is grouped by vehicle manufacturer, so you can quickly find vehicle-specific information.

 

GoWelding.org

What you’ll find:

GoWelding.org provides MIG welding guides for a variety of metals. Its aluminum guide covers electrode and gas selection, surface preparation, welder settings and common issues experienced during the welding process.

 

WeldGuru.com

What you’ll find:

WeldGuru.com’s in-depth aluminum welding page covers the basics and more. Readers can learn about aluminum production, characteristics and alloy classification before moving on to welding techniques and tips.

 

The Aluminum Association

Where to look: drivealuminum.org

What you’ll find:

The Aluminum Association’s dedicated aluminum vehicle information site includes reports, webinars and statistics about aluminum’s use in cars and trucks.

This one-day course is designed specifically for insurance professionals and technicians, and includes classroom and hands-on training.
